The Boston Spa Art and Crafts Festival was started in 2009 as one of a number of community events to celebrate the centenary of Boston Spa Village Hall. The success of that first event resulted in the decision to run the Festival as an annual event. A feature of the event is that the artists are present throughout the two days of the Festival.
We are a not-for-profit organisation. Our main aims are to celebrate and promote the talents of local artists and crafts people whilst giving them a platform to sell their work. We also raise valuable funds for the on-going programme of improvements to the Boston Spa Village Hall.
After a two year break for Covid, the Festival was welcomed back in October 2022. The event was a great success and featured around 60 local artists and crafts people. Artworks on display included painting, collage, photography, textiles, jewellery, glass, ceramics, print, metal and wood crafts.
Refreshments were served from the village hall cafe by the Boston Spa Village Hall CIO committee volunteers to whom we are indebted, and proved to be very popular with visitors.
Our artist in residence was Heather Burton, who gave a demonstration of her palette knife painting skills on the main stage using mixed media.
The festival will be held this year on Friday and Saturday 13th and 14th October 2023 in the Boston Spa Village Hall.
